Does Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have a
chance at getting re-elected? A new poll conducted in
his home state of Nevada found him with a 38 percent
approval rating, down more than 15 points since his
last election campaign. Members of his own party are
deeply dissatisfied with his weak stance on including a
public option in the final health care bill. A new ad
by The Progressive Change Campaign Committee targets
Reid for his ineffective leadership on this issue.
Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) isn't sure if people die
because they don't have health insurance. A recently
published Harvard study found that 45,000 people die
each year due to lack of health care coverage, but Jon
Kyl didn't get the memo. Kyl is concerned that health
care coverage for all Americans would cost too much,
but when pressed about the cost of war in Afghanistan
he stated, "No country can afford to scrimp and save or
try to win a war on the cheap. "
Can we get more people to dispose of their
rubbish properly by making it fun to do? As a test, we
added sound effects to a single garbage bin. During one
day, 72kg of trash were collected in this bin. That's
41kg more than another bin just a small distance away.
So, fun can obviously change behavior for the better.
We call it the fun theory.
